Setup & client config

The MCP server runs inside your AI client (separately via npm: @diviskit/mcp-server) and connects to the plugin with a WordPress Application Password. The dashboard shows components and status — it is not a chat interface and not proof of an active MCP connection.

  1. 01Install Diviskit Agent (Plugins → Add New or ZIP upload) and activate — Divi 5 must be active.
  2. 02Create an Application Password: Users → Profile → Application Passwords, or via WP-CLI:

  1. 05Install the authoring skills: the plugin ships bin/install-skills.sh (downloadable from the Diviskit dashboard or at wp-content/plugins/diviskit-agent/bin/) for Devin, Codex, Claude Code, Cursor or a custom directory. Then restart the client and ask the agent to inspect site capabilities.

The agent drives the installed plugin (5.1.4+) — it does not ship its own SEO engine.

Permissions & security

All endpoints require Application Password authentication. On top of that, the WordPress capability model applies:

Read endpoints: pages, layouts, presets, variables, snapshots, schema.

WRITE

edit_pages

Write endpoints: content updates, modules, sections, Theme Builder layouts.

ADMIN

manage_options

Administrative surfaces: preset and variable management. Content creation and status changes additionally require the mapped create/publish capabilities of the post type.

Never share secrets.
Application Passwords, license keys and tokens belong only in your local MCP config or environment variables — never in issues, docs examples, screenshots or repository files.

FAQ & troubleshooting

Does it work with Codex or Claude?

Yes. The Diviskit MCP server connects compatible clients — Codex, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Devin and others — to this plugin. Client configuration and client access are separate from the WordPress plugin.

Does the plugin work without the MCP server?

You can install the plugin and inspect its dashboard independently, but the AI workflow requires the separately installed MCP server and a compatible AI client.

Do I need Divi?

Yes — Diviskit Agent targets Divi 5. Authenticated requests return a divi_unavailable error when Divi is not active.

Can I keep editing the result in the Visual Builder?

Yes. Native Divi modules remain editable in the Visual Builder. Review your agent's output on staging — including responsive layouts — before publishing.

Is every MCP tool included in the Free plugin?

No. Free includes the core site-authoring bridge; selected workflows (e.g. Vendokit commerce) require separate Pro components. The MCP server checks the capability handshake.

How do I refresh the Divi module schema after a Divi update?

Divi updates can change module attribute paths. The schema dump lives at GET /wp-json/diviskit/v1/schema/module/dump-all with a schema_version fingerprint. The dashboard (Diviskit Agent → Schema dump) shows the live fingerprint and the refresh command update_skills.sh.
